Shout it loud and its lessons

I still don't know if Shout it loud is my favourite song in Destroyer. I listened to it for the first time late, in the Eighties, I guess.

I just know there was something reassuring. Life was simple, not really 'cause when the night had begun, you just wanted to have fun.

This song gave you other good lessons to live.

1 You got to treat yourself like number one

2 When you don't feel like doing this… well, never sit broken hearted.

3 And when you are young… you must - yes, must - think your parents are too old to understand. Otherwise, you won't change the world, that's ok: but you won't even try.

Shout it loud, non so ancora se sia la mia canzone preferita di Destroyer dopo quarant'anni. 

So che mi ha trasmesso alcune lezioni, oserei chiamarle certezze se ci credessi. Ecco perché era rassicurante, non solo perché la sera e la festa erano appena iniziate.

1 devi trattarti come il numero uno (e non per egoismo)

2 Se non te la senti, non sederti mai lì con il cuore spezzato

3 e da ragazzo sì, devi pensare che i tuoi sono troppo vecchi per capire, altrimenti non è che non cambierai il mondo e basta: proprio non ci proverai.
